The Money That Made Him Poor | Giveaway

It is best for us to tell our stories to the world.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Let’s talk films, to be precise, Kenyan films. There is something interesting about telling our  stories from our own point of view. Now comes in Tony Tini Tone Productions, a Kenyan production company that’s dedicated to just that, telling our stories, our way and in their own words, “Two childhood friends decided to come together to tell stories of living, learning and loving in Africa. Our motto is Our stories! Our Way!”

One of those stage plays is “The Money That Made Him Poor”  a story of WB, a young man who is forced into Nairobi – the land of corruption and seedy deals – after the death of his father. Will this world take him under or will he be able to make it in Nairobi without losing his soul? Money, Power, Her! Can he handle it.

Yeeeeeeeeeees, now that just got me excited. 😀 😀 😀

WhatsApp Image 2018-09-12 at 14.21.12

My heart was immediately captured by the story, because this is the case for so many people who move to the city to make a better life for themselves and end up facing so many difficulties. “Will I make it?” “Should I give up and go back?” “What is life?”

Now the only questions I have is, will WB make it? What happens? I cannot wait to watch it and have all my questions answered.

The stage play will be at the Louis Leakey Auditorium at Nairobi National Museum from 27th September to 30th September 2018. With three shows every day at; 3pm, 6pm & 8:30pm. And more exciting news;

I am so ready for the stage play, I kinda, sorta have my outfit all planned out 🙂 🙂 🙂

Now for the really juicy part. I have partnered with TTT productions to give one of you awesome babes, one of three backstage passes, where you’ll come backstage to meet and hangout with the cast before the show. Take pictures, chat, get to know them and their characters, all that jazz.

All you have to do is buy an early bird ticket (click here) and then your name will go into a raffle draw, where one of you will be picked and I will announce the winner on my instagram page (@justnimu) on Monday. As simple as that, all the best ♥

The tickest are very affordable, from Kes. 750 – Kes. 1,200, depending on what package you want.

Watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

And the count down to show time begins 🙂 🙂 🙂

Can’t wait for y’all to watch the full stage play as well, see you then.

Lifestyle | 2017 Bucket List

Hello! Hello! Hello!

How was your Easter Holiday? Hope it was great.

If you are a home body like me, you know getting out of the house has to be prepared for, but I’m trying to change that this year. This is the year to get out of my comfort zone. And what better way to do that than create a list of experiences for 2017.

This year Eventbrite come up with “Experiences, not Things!” It has become so easy for us to spend most of our money on material things, why not change that trend and spend it on new experiences.

So, I have come up with a list of things that I and my better half would like to experience, but the more crazy experience belongs to him, there are some things you will never catch me doing. No thank you, I’m not chasing death here. 😂😂😂

  1. Experience the coast on ‘lazy mode’.

I’ve been to the coast about three times, and this Easter made it four. All the times I’ve been there involved activities, and don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed visiting all those historical sites, but my lazy self and I just wanted to be on chill mode. Hahahaha. And I finally got to do that. Just soaking in that sun and getting my tan on.
This was my schedule;
Breakfast > Pool > Lunch > Pool & Ocean > Dinner > Bed (And repeat)

So, lazy mode in coast  ✔︎✔︎✔︎
Quick Tip ; Save up for an all inclusive resort, you get to be extra lazy 😃😃😃

2. Climb Mount Kenya & Mount Kilimanjaro.

For the past few months I’ve been psyching myself up for these two. Reasons being that, I hate the cold and I ‘m scared of heights. But I want to experience climbing up them and getting to experience the snow. It’s going to be very cold, but romantic cause you know I ain’t going alone 😉 . Plus imagine how amazing those photos would be.

3. Zip Lining at The Forest.

Remember how I said I’m scared of heights, but look at me now, wanting to zip line. I’m even getting nervous. Hahaha. But hey, got to face your fears at least once in your life time.
Sorry to say, but Nairobi has gotten boring especially for those of us who don’t drink. The only activities around involve partying and drinking and sorry, but not sorry, I’m too old and tired for that. So, traveling an hour out of Nairobi to Kiambu sounds like just the plan. Plus I think I’d enjoy the adrenaline rush. Woohoo. 😳

4. Bungee Jumping.

Queue boyfriend’s activity.
Me, bungee jump. Hahahaha. I must be out of my mind. Free falling off the Sagana bridge, no thank you. I’ve had to many dreams where I am falling, so I shall just take boyfie there, watch him scare the hell out of me as I enjoy a juicy burger. For this one experience, I’ll live vicariously through him.

5. Experience Mauritius.

After being in Diani for three nights, I fell in love with coastal towns and there is something about Mauritius that is very inviting. Plus how cool is it that you can travel the entire island in a few hours. I want to experiences driving around the entire island.
Babe and I have actually been planning to go down to the Island for almost a year now and I found the most beautiful hotel Mon Choisy Beach Resort .

And this time, I shall be very touristy, no lazy mode here. I want to experience the food, the people, their culture. Take in all the sites and just explore. Plus it doesn’t hurt that, if you are from an African country, you do not need a visa. So, a few coins have been saved right there.

Now over to you.
What do you want to experiences?
What items are on you bucket list?

And I hope you enjoyed the post.

Fashion | Crochet Me A Summer | Ndutah’s Gifts

Happy New Year!

Before I start this post, I would like to apologise for my absence, and I promise I will explain it all in my next.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

How have you guys been? I hope your holiday was amazing and that y’all crossed over to the new year well.

For the first post of the year I’m bringing y’all summer in Nairobi. I don’t know why, but that’s what I see in this outfit.
You remember Ndutah’s Accessories from my hair accessories video? Well this amazing pieces are from there as well.

Mismatched bikini and  kimono.

I’m not one for bikinis, this is actually my first, but let me tell you. I look good in it. Hahaha.
The kimono is just the perfect length and fit. For those who own crocheted clothes you know they are nice and lightweight and with this Nairobi heat, they are just perfect for that.

Another thing I love about this, is that the items are versatile. You can wear them to the pool/beach and wear them as part of an outfit ( I’ll show you two of my favourite outfits)

The Smart Casual

Blazer – Mum’s Wardrobe.
Skirt – Mr Price Junction.
Choker – Ndutah’s Gifts

For this look, I paired the bikini top with a blazer and a bodycon midi skirt. I love how the beige, mustard and grey play well together. I felt so good in this one and you can wear it practically anywhere.

And yes, I have no make up on. 🙂

The Casual

Jeans – Thrifted.

For this look, I just put on the kimono and a pair of Jeans. The jeans are actually high-waisted. It felt right to be the girl in the baggy jeans, plus I had to let the tomboy in me shine for a bit. 🙂

P.s; For the 30 minutes that I was out shooting, I got a tan. Light-skinned problems in Nairobi. 🙂

I just want to go to the pool now.

Hope y’all enjoyed the post, missed you a lot.
Don’t forget to check out Ndutah’s Gifts for more amazing stuff.

Natural Hair | DIY Leave-In

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Twice a week, I have no idea where all this motivation came from, but I am loving it.

It’s not every time that you will have your go-to products or have enough money to spend on repurchasing products. And I have been on both those boats, several times.

Today, Linda and I show you how to two different products that we both love using when you don’t have your go to products. Simple and easy recipes that your hair will also love.

DIY Leave-in;

  • 1 cup water.
  • 1 cup conditioner of choice.
  • 50ml/6 tablespoons Coconut Oil (Carrier oil of your choice)
  • 5ml/5-10 drops Eucalyptus oil (Essential oil of choice)

Mix everything in your spritz bottle and shake well.
And there you have it, a simple yet efficient leave-in conditioner.

Hope you enjoy both tutorials.

Feature Friday | Eva for Loverly

Eva Franco for Loverly

Good Morning,

I have teamed up with Loverly to introduce their new brides and bridemaids collection, Eva Franco for Loverly Dress Collection.

Before we go any farther, let me just say that the collection is AMAZING, had me thinking of when I’m going to get married and which dresses I’ll have. *Hint* *Hint* significant other. 🙂

The whole collection is centred around the vintage-inspired look, which I’m very much in love with. I love how she used lace as the key fabric. Lace is rarely seen on bridesmaid dresses only on the brides, so I love the whole twist to it.

Studio Session - Loverly-2431

Zoe Dress & Amelia Dress

The Zoe dress in a light rose dress with sequined lace. I just love how flirty and free flowing it is with the fit and flare cut easy to get on the floor and just dance the night away.

The Amelia dress is this beautiful navy blue short dress with apache lace. You can never go wrong with a navy blue dress. To me dark coloured dresses have this subtly sexy appeal to them that will have your bridesmaids feeling like a million bucks.

Studio Session - Loverly-2176

Roe Dress & Lucca Dress

Can I just start by saying how the blue green colour is just the most amazing colour, it’s not too loud, not too quiet, just perfect.

The Roe dress is a 3/4 sleeved fitted dress. This is the perfect fit for anybody, definitely one of my favourite dresses in the collection. It gives out this sophisticated look and it’s simple, just like me 🙂

The Lucca dress is a fun and flirty dress with amazing textured lace that reminds me of crochet (or I’ve just been crocheting too much haha) with its fit and flare skirt, your bridesmaids will be as comfortable as they can be and love you forever. 🙂

Studio Session - Loverly-2472 (1)

Lily Dress & Nori Dress

The Nori dress is my favourite dress in the whole collection. Let’s just take a minute and talk about the open back detail. First time I saw it I just fell in love. One thing I’ve come to learn is that everyone has an amazing back and with a dress like this, you wouldn’t even need to add any more detail to the wedding, this will just seal the deal. The dress also has an amazing tulip hem which also adds another touch of sexiness. I just need this dress.

Dear Lily dress, would you like to join my closet? This cobalt blue dress just screams out modern and sophisticated. I’d honestly wear this dress everywhere I go. Perfect dress for any day and any occasion. The scalloped hem also adds a hint of sexiness to the dress.

Studio Session - Loverly-2179 (3)

Aria Jumpsuit & Maura Jumpsuit

Last but not least, the most amazing pieces in the collection. JUMPSUIT. Jumpsuits are for everyone no matter your body type, girl a jumpsuit will make you the queen you are.

Dear future husband, I might just have more than one or two or three outfits. Just saying.

The Aria jumpsuit has this lovely laced popover that adds the vintage feel to the whole jumpsuit. It being ivory in colour, my dear bold bride rock this baby down the aisle, you shall be the topic of discussion for a long time. 😉

Maura jumpsuit, where do I even begin. Is it the halter neck, the delicate tie belt or just how amazing it is. I’d sleep, eat, drink in it and never take it off. It will add the elegance and sophistication to your wedding day.

All-in-all, this collection is the best, it’s not your basic chiffon, silk, satin or taffeta dresses that you see every day. Any of the dresses or jumpsuits with add great detail to your wedding and looking back at the pictures you’ll always smile and remember your wedding day.

Check out the bridesmaids page for the entire collection.

You can follow Loverly on their Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and Tumblr pages for inspiration and tips for your wedding day.

Hope you enjoyed.

Feature Friday: Jane’s Beads

Good Morning,

If you know me, you know I love handmade stuff. I think it’s the whole idea of how each item is so different from the other or the detail that goes into every piece.

A few months ago, I came across a young girls instagram page, and let me tell you, she makes the most amazing handmade jewellery I’ve ever seen.

I will let you learn more about this amazing girl and her craft.

*A Little Background: Who and What is Jane’s Beads?

Jane’s Beads is a growing business/company that designs and hand crafts jewellery.

Jane Stephanie Mwithiga is behind Jane’s Beads. it began as a hobby in 2010 and was later converted into a business in 2013 after requests from family and friends to make more pieces.

*Why jewellery design?

I was quite crafty at a young age, always using my hands to make something new and interesting. A Sunday school teacher noted how good I was with my hands and bought a beginner jewellery making set and well the rest is history. 🙂

I get my inspiration from basically anywhere. It can be from a friend, TV show, a magazine or even nature.

*Explain to us your process.

When I begin working on a piece, I already have a picture of how I want it to be in the end. I line out the materials I plan on using and begin. If I don’t like the outcome, I undo the design and start all over again.

There are those frustrating yet humorous moments when an an almost complete piece falls apart, with beads scattering all over and I have to start again.

I call such moments, the joys and pains of beading.

*How long does a piece take?

It depends on the piece. Some can take 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the material.

Other pieces can actually take days to finish.

*What Materials do you use?

I use beads, wire, chain, beading string/wire but I am beginning to venture into using brass.

*Role Models in the Industry?

Internationally, I look up to: Vanessa Mooney, Pamela Love, Katie Dean Jewellery, Catbird NYC and Stella & Dot,

Locally, I admire Vanessa from Kihuruta Designs

*Where do you see Jane’s Beads in 5 years time?

In 5 years, I see Jane’s Beads as a household name. With an online shop up and running that will not only ship locally but also internationally.

I also see it being a blessing to the community in one way or another.

*Lastly, any words of advice.

Start with whatever little you have. If you decide to start when everything is right or when you have enough, you never will.

And when you do start, be patient, success won’t just fall on your lap. Every mistake you make will be a good lesson. Never give up on your dreams just because of what someone says, use it as a motivation to push harder.

I am just amazed by her, if I haven’t said it already. And I’m honoured to be styling four amazing pieces that she has done.

Jane’s Beads range from Ksh. 300 – Ksh. 2000 ( around $3 – $20), quite affordable if you ask me.

You can find them on Facebook Jane’s Beads and Instagram Jane’s Beads Ke

Aren’t this pieces amazing, but don’t worry the posts shall be up soon.

Hope y’all have an amazing day.
