Wash and Go on Natural Hair

Life isn’t perfect, but your hair can be.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

I never thought I’d be able to achieve a defined wash and go on my type 4b/4c hair, but here I am now, loving the simplicity of the wash and go’s.

I love how my hair is able to sit in defined, clumped curls and last me the entire week. As you can tell by now, I don’t re-moisturize or restyle my hair in between washes, ’cause child, no one has time or the energy for that #LazyNatural 😂😂😂

Marini Naturals Curl Me Pretty Curling Butter Review

The simple things in life, make it all worth it.

I remember when I started my natural hair journey, I had the impression that I would only use very few products, but a few years later and I have a whole box of hair products.🙈🙈🙈

201810071399614435When Marini Naturals lauched their new and improved products, my heart skipped a beat and I was so excited when I received the butter and daily spritz. Though, for  today, I’ll focus on the butter because I LOOOVEEE butters.😍😍😍

201810072010536457The amount of moisture and definition this butter gives me is just life. I have been loving how it works with my hair and I don’t have to bother about moisturizing my hair in between washes.

20181006-1311158492Just look at that definition and tell me it doesn’t make you want to get the butter for your hair.

I’d highly recommend the butter and it only retails for Kes. 950 and a little goes a long way. The tab will last you at least 4 months.

Talk to you soon.

How I Dye My Natural hair at home.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Time seems to always fly by when you are having a good time.

The past 3 months have felt like a week for me and I’m not too sure if someone is playing with time or time is just moving how it’s meant to.

If you are not subscribed to my channel on YouTube (Joan Miano), which you actually should be, you would have not had that I got a new job. Yep, your girl is now in the 8 – 5 train. 🙂 🙂 🙂 I am at an advertising agency and to keep it short & sweet, I am enjoying myself.

I’ll be sure to give y’all an update very soon.

Anyway, I finally got the time to colour my hair, it is nothing crazy, but we will get there eventually. It is going to be somewhat of a journey of me lightening my hair to the “perfect” blonde for me.

As you know, I am a DIY kinda girl, so I chose to do it at home.

Here is the video on how I achieved my current colour and the products I used.

Products Used;

  • Inecto Plus Sunkissed Blonde.
  • Dark n’ Lovely Moisture Replenishing Shampoo.
  • Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Moisturizing & Detangling Conditioner.
  • Saru Organics Hair Growth Masque.
  • Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Detangling Leave-In Conditioner.
  • Saru Organics Shea & Avocado Curling Butter.

Now that step one is done, I can’t wait for step two in about 2 months, where we even go lighter.

I hope you enjoyed today’s read.

Fulani Inspired Braids

At times a slight change helps settle the turmoil.

First off, I’d love to thank each and every one of you who voted for me, we didn’t win, but I’m thankful and proud that I got nominated. Next step, is to keep working hard and putting a smile on someone’s face. 🙂

Secondly, I have honestly come to the stage with my hair where I’m bored with her and before I do something drastic, that I may or may not regret, I have decided to do a few protective styles.

For starters, I decided to do the lines and box braids. I’m pretty sure most of us remember having this style growing up and during the holidays, we would march to the salon and ask for “Half lines, Half rastas” Oh, the good old days 😀

I used three packets of Darling’s Elegant Braid in Number 1/350, a few rubber bands for the box braids and plenty of beads just to style up the do.
You can get all these supplies from any beauty store.

I’m excited and a bit relaxed that I don’t have to bother with my hair at all, plus, it doesn’t hurt that the hair is light and I see myself having the style in for another two week or three, who knows? 🙂

Here is a quick video on how I was able to achieve this look.

Are you currently protective styling? Are you and your hair on good terms?
Let me know.

I have some amazing news to give, but I shall leave that for another post.

Hope your week went well, mine just seemed to pass by, but it was a good one.

Dark and Lovely sent me a package a few months ago and I have been testing out the whole Au Naturale range and I must say, I’m in love.

African Inspired Hairstyle

Simple is always best.

March is over and I just don’t know how that happened. One second I’m freezing to death at Hairitage Chronicles, the next I’m planning my April calender. How? But it seems as though it’s something to get used to.

Speaking of, on the 10th of March I went for Hairitage Chronicles 4.0. A natural hair event that is all kinds of fun, from hanging out with amazing naturalistas to stocking up on your favourite natural products, dancing yourself away and just having a good old time. But for some reason that day just went from bad to worse and I was so close to calling it quits. My outfit was ruined, I was super duper late and it rained heavily.

Anyway, with the little excitement i had, I decided to create a simple African inspired hairstyle that I think came out just perfectly.

What do you think? Did it turn out well?

Let me know.

Natural Hair Journey

From Straight to Curly

Nothing makes me more comfortable than wearing my hair in it’s wild, natural state.

Hey, Hey, Hey.

I’m trying to understand how my scalps was on “fire” after week two of going straight, but week two of me having my hair back in its curly state feels as though I just washed it a few hours ago. Rebellion perharps? Hahaha I don’t know.

Here is a quick video on my  reverting back, the one thing I’m happy about is that I didn’t experience heat damage and that the “bounce back” as we call it was instant.

Quick, Cute Valentines Hairstyle

Simplicity is key.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

What are you doing for Valentine’s?
I’ll probably be cuddled up watching a movie or chatting up with the babe.

But, for those who have plans, and don’t know what to do with your hair, I give you a quick style.  This crown twist is my fave go-to protective style and I’ve been a fun of it since I was a new natural.
It can be done on any hair type in any state, that is, stretched out, straight, freshly washed or a crows nest. :-D. if you know how to do a flat twist, this is as easy as ABC, but if not, you can switch it up for a crown braid. Just cornrow two large braids.

How are you wearing your hair?

Natural Hair | From Curly to Straight

My head has been feeling cold, naked and just empty.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

6th day of the 2nd month and let me just say, January came and went so fast, we can practically say that 2018 is coming to an end. Right?

Most of you have been so eager to see how I straightened my mane and today I am here to deliver. I’ve had my hair straight for a week now and I honestly miss my kinks, coils and curls. My scalp is honestly itching and I’m just so ready to wash my hair, but I need another week or two to play around with a few styles I’ve been wanting to do.

When my hair got this straight, I was so shocked because my hair is very stubborn and in the past, I’ve never been able to go this straight and now I attribute it to great products, good tools and a great technique.

Watch the video here to see my transformation.
Do you plan on straightening your hair?

Super Defined Twist Out ft Saru Organics

When that curl can be seen from miles away.

Hello! Hello! Hello!
Today is technically my 4th year as a natural, but your girl has a fresh cold sore and I’m not about to subject you to that in the pictures and yes, my hair is very straight. Out here looking like a totally different person, check out my instastory.

But, that is besides the point, today’s video is all about getting those defined curls with just one product.
If you know me by now, you know I’m not that much into defined curls because my hair is very frizzy and I love it just like that, but Saru Organics Curl Pudding came into my life and just gave me another reason to love both frizzy and defined hair.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to go from “crows nest” to super defined curls that have the hair gods singing. 😀

What do you think? Do you love the results? Let me know.
