Wash and Go on Natural Hair

Life isn’t perfect, but your hair can be.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

I never thought I’d be able to achieve a defined wash and go on my type 4b/4c hair, but here I am now, loving the simplicity of the wash and go’s.

I love how my hair is able to sit in defined, clumped curls and last me the entire week. As you can tell by now, I don’t re-moisturize or restyle my hair in between washes, ’cause child, no one has time or the energy for that #LazyNatural πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wine, Sex & Chill | Sex on Your Period

Taking a stand on the things you love, makes you achieve your hearts desires.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Sex for me has become therapeutic and it has gotten to a point that I enjoy every encounter as my entire being is able to be in the moment.

When it comes to sex on my period, it was something that I told myself that I would never do, but I’ve learnt it is all in how it is done.20181007733813693Correct timing and ensuring you vocalize to your partner how you want it done. I have added sex to my cycle right before my periods in order to help minimize my cramping and control the hornyness. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Is sex on your period, maybe before and after be something you would do? Is it something you already do? Let me know.

Talk to you soon.

Marini Naturals Curl Me Pretty Curling Butter Review

The simple things in life, make it all worth it.

I remember when I started my natural hair journey, I had the impression that I would only use very few products, but a few years later and I have a whole box of hair products.πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

201810071399614435When Marini Naturals lauched their new and improved products, my heart skipped a beat and I was so excited when I received the butter and daily spritz. Though, forΒ  today, I’ll focus on the butter because I LOOOVEEE butters.😍😍😍

201810072010536457The amount of moisture and definition this butter gives me is just life. I have been loving how it works with my hair and I don’t have to bother about moisturizing my hair in between washes.

20181006-1311158492Just look at that definition and tell me it doesn’t make you want to get the butter for your hair.

I’d highly recommend the butter and it only retails for Kes. 950 and a little goes a long way. The tab will last you at least 4 months.

Talk to you soon.

The Money That Made Him Poor | Giveaway

It is best for us to tell our stories to the world.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Let’s talk films, to be precise, Kenyan films. There is something interesting about telling ourΒ  stories from our own point of view. Now comes in Tony Tini Tone Productions, a Kenyan production company that’s dedicated to just that, telling our stories, our way and in their own words, “Two childhood friends decided to come together to tell stories of living, learning and loving in Africa. Our motto isΒ Our stories! Our Way!”

One of those stage plays is “The Money That Made Him Poor”Β  a story of WB, a young man who is forced into Nairobi – the land of corruption and seedy deals – after the death of his father. Will this world take him under or will he be able to make it in Nairobi without losing his soul? Money, Power, Her! Can he handle it.

Yeeeeeeeeeees, now that just got me excited. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

WhatsApp Image 2018-09-12 at 14.21.12

My heart was immediately captured by the story, because this is the case for so many people who move to the city to make a better life for themselves and end up facing so many difficulties. “Will I make it?” “Should I give up and go back?” “What is life?”

Now the only questions I have is, will WB make it? What happens? I cannot wait to watch it and have all my questions answered.

The stage play will be at the Louis Leakey Auditorium at Nairobi National Museum from 27th September to 30th September 2018. With three shows every day at; 3pm, 6pm & 8:30pm. And more exciting news;

I am so ready for the stage play, I kinda, sorta have my outfit all planned out πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Now for the really juicy part. I have partnered with TTT productions to give one of you awesome babes, one of three backstage passes, where you’ll come backstage to meet and hangout with the cast before the show. Take pictures, chat, get to know them and their characters, all that jazz.

All you have to do is buy an early bird ticket (click here) and then your name will go into a raffle draw, where one of you will be picked and I will announce the winner on my instagram page (@justnimu) on Monday. As simple as that, all the best β™₯

The tickest are very affordable, from Kes. 750 – Kes. 1,200, depending on what package you want.

Watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

And the count down to show time begins πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Can’t wait for y’all to watch the full stage play as well, see you then.

Natural Hair Journey

How I Dye My Natural hair at home.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Time seems to always fly by when you are having a good time.

The past 3 months have felt like a week for me and I’m not too sure if someone is playing with time or time is just moving how it’s meant to.

If you are not subscribed to my channel on YouTube (Joan Miano), which you actually should be, you would have not had that I got a new job. Yep, your girl is now in the 8 – 5 train. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I am at an advertising agency and to keep it short & sweet, I am enjoying myself.

I’ll be sure to give y’all an update very soon.

Anyway, I finally got the time to colour my hair, it is nothing crazy, but we will get there eventually. It is going to be somewhat of a journey of me lightening my hair to the “perfect” blonde for me.

As you know, I am a DIY kinda girl, so I chose to do it at home.

Here is the video on how I achieved my current colour and the products I used.

Products Used;

  • Inecto Plus Sunkissed Blonde.
  • Dark n’ Lovely Moisture Replenishing Shampoo.
  • Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Moisturizing & Detangling Conditioner.
  • Saru Organics Hair Growth Masque.
  • Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Detangling Leave-In Conditioner.
  • Saru Organics Shea & Avocado Curling Butter.

Now that step one is done, I can’t wait for step two in about 2 months, where we even go lighter.

I hope you enjoyed today’s read.

Lunch at Dusit D2 Rouge Deck

All you need is a good laugh and a support system that will not judge.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Can someone please explain to me why it’s so cold? Is this how winter feels like? I’m just so confused ’cause I don’t remember last year being this cold.

Anyway, two Saturday’s ago, my girls and I went for lunch at The Rouge Deck at Dusit D2 and I must say, having that time out form all the hupla in life is always worth it.

Faith & Fiona. Friends from 2003

Don’t we look all cute and stuff? The three of us have been friends since 2003 and I must say seeing this two grow into the women they are is just AMAZING.
Our plan was to dress up and just hang out, but as you can see, I kinda, sorta threw that plan out the window. Hahahaha but I still looked cute, right?

Knit Top – Belonged to Mum.
Jeans – Toi Market (Ksh.200)
Head tie – Street in town.

As you can see, I opted for a knit top that I made off-shoulder and my favourite pair of jeans EVER.
For my hair, I just put it up in a bun and tied a headscarf, because girl, my hair was a mess.

Lunch was okay, I’ll give it a 5/10, at least for what I had, the fish & chips.
Now, I love me some strawberry Daiquiri and for the life of me, I don’t know why it isn’t at every single establishment, but that’s okay.
I ended up ordering the daiquiri and let me just tell you the rum in it, hit me like a ton of bricks, but I liked it. 8/10.

If you plan on trying it out, I recommend it for a nice afternoon hangout because they close at 6:30pm.

Here is a vlog from the day, plus you get to meet my friends. πŸ˜€

Hope you enjoyed today’s post. If there are places in Nairobi you’d like me and my friends to try out, let me know.

Smile, you don’t know who you’re making happy

Wine, Sex & Chill |It’s Not Just Sex

Hard work does pay off.

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Have you ever been approached and asked to sell your body for sex?
Well, I got approached a few weeks ago and I must say it was very strange for me. Imagine waking up to a message asking you to have sex with strangers for Ksh.40,000 per client, a bit odd, right?

As much as I enjoy it, I have my rules that I follow to a tee and I’m not about to change them.

Here are my thoughts on the whole issue;

Would you sell your body?
Let me know.

Fulani Inspired Braids

At times a slight change helps settle the turmoil.

First off, I’d love to thank each and every one of you who voted for me, we didn’t win, but I’m thankful and proud that I got nominated. Next step, is to keep working hard and putting a smile on someone’s face. πŸ™‚

Secondly, I have honestly come to the stage with my hair where I’m bored with her and before I do something drastic, that I may or may not regret, I have decided to do a few protective styles.

For starters, I decided to do the lines and box braids. I’m pretty sure most of us remember having this style growing up and during the holidays, we would march to the salon and ask for “Half lines, Half rastas” Oh, the good old days πŸ˜€

I used three packets of Darling’s Elegant Braid in Number 1/350, a few rubber bands for the box braids and plenty of beads just to style up the do.
You can get all these supplies from any beauty store.

I’m excited and a bit relaxed that I don’t have to bother with my hair at all, plus, it doesn’t hurt that the hair is light and I see myself having the style in for another two week or three, who knows? πŸ™‚

Here is a quick video on how I was able to achieve this look.

Are you currently protective styling? Are you and your hair on good terms?
Let me know.

Vacation in Diani, Kenya

Once in a while, take time to relax and regroup.

One of my resolutions for this year was to travel or take a vacation every 3 to 4 months and I’m so glad that I’m on the right track with that. How are your resolutions going?

Two weeks ago, my friends and I went down to the coast of Kenya, to Diani to be specific and I must say, it was the best 4 days, so far this year.

We stayed at the cutest Airbnb that was 80 metres from the beach.

All we did was relax, eat and just enjoy not having to deal with any technology.
Walking on the beach, having the sand between our toes and the waves crashing on our feet was the most relaxing feeling ever.

Here are highlights of what went down;

Have you been able to travel within the first 4 months of the year? If so, where?

But, funny thing with having a great vacation, you can’t stop thinking of the next.
My friends and I are now planning on where to go next. Where do you think we’ll go?

Wine, Sex & Chill | When to Define the Relationship

Be as honest and as straight forward with your partner as much as you can.

Mid week of the last week of April, can whoever is stepping on the accelerator please ease up a little bit. I’ve just been running up and down working and planning a few things, and seeing how things are going, end of here will be here and we shall just be recapping on again.

I am an advocate of talking things over with your partner as this ensures that any hiccups that arise are dealt with.
Matildah and I had a good time discussing this topic and I hope that we helped you understand the importance of being true to what you want.

Do you agree with us? Should you define the relationship in the beginning or later on?
